Fair Liberty’s Call

Coming together through their shared love of Celtic folk, Larry Young and Lindsay Straw — or Tobias Tripp and Abigail Jewell, when going by their 18th century aliases — delight in weaving together dance tunes, old narrative ballads and historical anecdotes for audiences all over the Greater Boston and North Shore areas. With Larry performing primarily on fiddle and baroque guitar and Lindsay on Irish bouzouki and acoustic guitar, the duo takes great delight in bringing the past alive with costumed performances of music from the colonial era.

Larry is also an accomplished lecturer who uses intriguing and humorous facts and anecdotes to provide what he calls historical "edu-tainment." A graduate of Dartmouth College, he has several historical music albums to his credit, including “Salem’s Musick: Songs and Dances of the Puritans,” funded by the Salem Cultural Council.

A graduate of Berklee with several albums of her own, Lindsay brings her well of traditional story songs and deft accompaniment style developed through countless hours spent in Irish sessions.

As a duo, Lindsay and Larry have played for numerous historical events and parties. Recent highlights include:
