Accardi, Frankowicz & Straw

It’s pretty simple - we love a great Irish tune with a driving pulse, and we love playing them together! All of us are long-time Boston residents who have played together for over a decade in sessions, in other bands, and for assorted pick-up gigs around New England. It was high time we laid down some music together that reflected our respect for the tradition and our pleasure in putting our own spin on it.
Rhode Island native Dan Accardi not only brings the free reeds (accordion and concertina) to the trio, but also his wealth of historical knowledge and context for the countless tunes, obscure and well-known, that he plays. On the five-string fiddle, Cara Frankowicz got her musical start in Pennsylvania before attending Berklee, where she added theory and a modern musical sensibility to her trad bona fides. A fellow Berklee grad, Montana native and guitarist/bouzouki player Lindsay Straw came to traditional music by way of the mid-century folk revival.
