Ahh. Sunshine, birds chirping, flowers blooming, the smell of sunscreen, iced tea on the patio…all signs that summer is coming, and with it, wedding season! I’ve been preparing by going green with WeddingWire’s new Client tools, writing some new posts for my Wedding Blog, updating my site, and looking forward to a day spent playing pretty music at the Herb Lyceum’s Open House. I’m honored to be featured as part of this year’s Folk Festival at Brandeis University! Here’s some information:

Description:
Every song tells a story in the fourth annual Brandeis Folk Festival, featuring some of the best singers and songwriters in the northeast United States. Produced by Too Cheap for Instruments with Victoria Carter ‘15, Sathvika Reddy ‘15 and Alison Thvedt ‘15.

Schedule:
1:00 - 1:40 p.m - Patti DeRosa’s fans describe her as “a little Joss Stone, a little Tracey Chapman, a little Sheryl Crow, but happier and funnier.”
1:50 - 2:30 p.m - Hillary Reynolds Band is a dynamic quintet featuring tight harmonies and traditional instruments.
2:40 - 3:20 p.m - Ellie Buckland and Isa Burke are fiddlers from Maine. CANCELLED.
3:30 - 3:50 p.m - Brandeis’ Too Cheap for Instruments sing folk and pop songs with a cappella irreverence.
4:00 - 4:40 p.m - Lindsay Straw is a Boston-based guitarist, bouzouki player and vocalist who specializes in folk and traditional Irish music.
4:50 - 5:30 p.m - Driftwood, one of the most prominent national acts to come out of the Binghamton, N.Y. music scene, is at heart a rock band, though the ghost of traditional American folk music lives in their palette.

Not Just Another Coffeehouse was founded with the vision of bringing the community together around great music and conversation. There is a LOT going on over in Ivy Leaf Land! Our shipment of CDs just came in yesterday and I autographed my first ever album last night. Yay! There will be more news and tracks in the wedding sphere being posted soon, but for now, I’m revving up for the Ivy Leaf’s CD release shows, finishing off promo materials and sending off press releases. Stay tuned!

Hello world! I’ve been so busy putting together gigs for the next six months that I forgot that I should probably announce a very important one that’s coming up this weekend! On Saturday at the New Moon Coffeehouse in Haverhill, MA, I’m opening for Canadian singer-songwriter James Keelaghan. Aside from wedding ceremonies, this will be the first gig I’ve played solo in nearly seven years, or since I left Montana. I’ve been trying to figure out all week what a Lindsay Straw solo show is like, and to be honest, I’m also getting a bit nervous! But mostly I’m excited, not only to use this as a jumping off point for more solo endeavors, with more songs and more guitar-arrangements, but also to get to meet and open for someone like Mr. Keelaghan. Check out this performance of his song, “Cold Missouri Waters”.

I can’t say whether or not they’ve sold out, but if you live anywhere near Haverhill, you should come check it out!
